shaking monitor screen?

I have a Compaq presario 1525. I did not do any thing at all, and the next time I turned on my PC I found the screen is driving me nutzzz shaking.
I had a monitor with a degausing switch one time, but i dont have one on this. I dont know what the problem is, its just bouncing back and forth very fast.

Degauss might be on a sort of menu, fiddle with the buttons and see it it brings one up (It'll be on screen) most newer monitors do it this way.

I fixed it! It was the refresh rate? Dont know why, however I set it to default from optimal. Anyways, that did it. Still would like to know why this happened.

Sounds like a CTX monitor underneath. It's probably slowly failing.

Thats OK, Only paid $10 for it. Not fussy about monitors. Still hope she holds up awhile:D
