This is a question for everyone who owns a set of multimedia speakers, be they 2-piece, 3-piece, big or small. From the smallest Kinyo speaker system (with their 3" subwoofer) to the Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 with its two thundering 8" woofers and 5 speakers, Boka to Bose, what do you use?
I typically use a 3-piece Altec Lansing ACS33W 35-watt RMS system with two 3" full-range 5-watt speakers in the satellites and a 25-watt 4" subwoofer. For a while, I had a Cyber Acoustics CA-3310 26-watt 3-piece system with 2.5" full-range drivers at 5 watts each, and a 16-watt subwoofer. When I need real audio muscle, though, I use my 365-watt 4.1 bedroom system. It consists of two front speakers with an 8" woofer and a 1.5" Phenolic Ring Tweeter, two rear speakers with an 8" woofer, a 4" midrange, and a 2" tweeter, and a subwoofer with two 8" high-excursion subwoofers and a 10" passive radiator.
I have the Altec Lansing ACS33s.
The only set I have ever heard that was better was a set of Klipsch's
BTW - I thought the set I had was 120 watts. I believe there are two models of these, one at 35 watts, the other 120.

I have a set of Boston Acoustic BA 7500
AND I LOVE THEM...

I use the Labtec Pulse 424's, and love them. Just needed a set for a quick replacement, and picked 'em up because they were cheap. Best $60 I ever spent!
Check out the Maximum PC review (http://www.maximumpc.com/latest_reviews/review_2001-04-04.html) on them.

Klipsch Promedia 4.1's. Got them just before the 5.1's came out. Still, I love these things. Don't watch a lot of DVD's on my computer anyway.

It's all about the Klipsch's! I have the original Promedia (v2.400? I can't remember the model for sure). If you can fit a set into your budget, you will certainly not regret it. I'm actually considering buying the latest offering.

I use the super cheapie HP speakers that came with an HP box I ordered for a friend. I am not much on sound for the computer, and I would rather use headphones. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
I used to use the BA Micromedias and they were great speakers for the money. Clear and nice range.

Altec Lansing ACS 45.2's here, the bass is room filling and the sattelites are pretty crisp for not having tweeters (thinking about adding tweeters myself).
I've had them for about 2 years now and they will take a lot of high volume abuse! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

I have a very good home entertainment system,so I don't use my computer much for music, but I received a set of the labtec pulse 424's last Christmas and was impressed with them, especially for a cheap set of speakers.

Altec Lancing "ACS33"
More than ample for my 12' x 12' room, and only cost me $35, through my employer.
Treble is sharp but not shrill, and the bass is enough to pound the floor, if I so choose. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/redface.gif)

Sony SAVA-7 They have a built in Pro-Logic decoder and a remote that controls volume, mute, balance, surround mode, delay, center, surround and subwoofer volume, select input, mix between inputs and display dimmer.

I use Altec Lansing ADA890 with a Hercules Game Theater - I rattle the pictures on the wall!
ME
I have a pair of Altec Lansing ACS-5 speakers. They are discontinued but they used to come with older Gateway PCs. I have these on a high pass crossover because I also have a Polk EX12 12" car subwoofer in a homemade box powered by a Phase Linear 125w RMS car amplifier. It really rocks! The altecs sound slightly muddy because they have no tweeters so I might replace them.
My dad's PC has the Labtec 424 Pulse system. He got it from Staples for $50 with a $30 rebate. They were a great deal for $50 and an ever better one at $20! The bass is unbelievable for such a small/inexpensive system!

SB Live! out to a Cambridge Audio DTT 5.1 (both the origianls) - getting a bit dated, but as much as you need for ANY gaming, plu sthe Dolby Digital amp is pretty decent for a budget setup, jsut use the digital though - analogue is NOT good...
For DVD's I use another budget setup: Scan AV6 5.1 speakers - 8W RMS per channel and a 20W RMS sub, decent enough for a small-ish lounge... decent enough surround sound, nice amp - optical, digital and a couple of analogue inputs... all works prety nicely... I'd certainly recommaned SOME form of surroundsound - even is its a decent amp and speakers up front and a pair of cheap PC speakers at the back...

I like Altec.Have been using ADA305's for
almost two years.They are excellent.Found a
deal on ADA880's which just arrived.
(4x10watt satellites/40watt subwoofer).
Also have Klipsch ProMedia 4.1's on my other
system that I built, which are most excellent.
I thought the ACS33's only had a 15watt
sub??

I'm with Lostbok. I have the original Cambridge Soundworks Desktop Theater 5.1 and an SB Live! Bought the speakers for $75 shipped a while back. Incredible deal if you ask me. It has a DD decoding amp and true 5.1 surround sound. Perfect for me in my small office at home and it avoids a lot of arguments. My wife and I will go to the rental store and I'll get a "guy" movie on DVD and she'll get a "girly" movie on VHS to watch with the old VCR downstairs.

2 sets of Yamaha YST-M200SPs, front and rear on SB Live!. Because they're independant, I had to set the front/rear balance with the volume controls on the speakers and can only change volume from within Windows. I've managed to get the volume of my games pretty equal so it's not really a problem.
I've no idea on the specs of these speakers but they're fine for gaming (Especially as I don't live in a detached house http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif) and adequate but not so fine for music (too much bass/volume and they start to lose it).
