I have a geforce 2 ti/450 in my old computer. I currently am using the 23.11 drivers because they gave the best benchmarks in 3dmark 2000 and 3dmark 2001.
I recently got a new game (MAFIA) and since my system basically barely meets the minimum requirements I'm looking for any kind of performance increase I can find. Would a newer driver version give me better results since this is a relatively newer game compared to those benchmarks? I thought I'd ask before I waste my time downloading newer drivers only to see no increase or a decrease in performance. Any personal experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I had my best luck on 45.09 with my old Ti4200 and 42.xx on my parents old GeForce 2 MX400.

As it stands now, your CPU is too weak to even get top performance from an MX440. I would stick to those drivers.

For the gf2 family the 23.11's are generally recognised as the best

My nephew played Mafia on my parents T-bird 1ghz with 384MB PC133 and a GeForce 2 MX400 in 800x600 and it was a bit choppy in parts but playable. They are on the 42.xx's because I was getting the highest 3dmark 2001 with them.
Don't be afriad to experiment with different drivers.

Thanks for the input. What is a good benchmarking program that would give me a good idea how different drivers would perform in that particular game? thanks.

ok, yah I have that. I thought maybe there was a newer one that more approximated that game but I'll give it a shot. So Rob, you recommend any of the 42.xx series drivers? I see there are a whole bunch on guru 3d to download. thanks again for the help.

Aquamark is also a good benchmark alternative to 3mark2001 that features future technology, without massivley punishing you for having older hardware, ala 3dmark 2003

I went and checked for you and it was 41.09 that I put it on. Sorry about the 42.xx thing, it had been a while since I did that. I tried all of the 4x.xx drivers on it and that was the one that gave the best performance and was most up-to-date.
Your results may vary ;)
