I finally started OCing my Chaintek GeForce FX5900 128mb.

Went from 400/850 (core/ram) to 480/930. Stable, no artifacting, no tearing.

Anyone else OC their FX5900 (non ultra)? Get similar results?
I went from a 3dmark2003 score of 4800 or so(dont have the exact #'s with me right now) to 5500 even.

running on P4 2.8c, 1 GB DDR400, 120gb SATA.

do you have a dell by some chance???

lol. yes I can do that with mine too. I have the same computer specs as you do. exactly the same. works fine for me.

For the benchmark 3dmark03...computer specs do not matter, it is depended on the video card.:)

Im pretty sure system specs do matter. Especially when there are a couple of "CPU tests"....

So your wrong... i guarantee if I overclocked my CPU and memory also the score would change, so... yeah.

Your score would change by very little....probably less than 100 points. For a better test of overall system performance...use 3dMark2001SE. You notice good performnace improvements when tweaking and also OC'ing CPU, RAM & Graphics Cards.
If you have a DX9 card then 3dmark2003 generally measures the speed your card can run these tests and I find that the CPU tests are pretty much a waste of time.

None the less, the score will still change, how much i did not specify. In a competiive world, small changes can be the difference between last, an first place.

And back to the topic on hand... Anyone else have similar OC'ing results with this card?

I should have been more descriptive and not so vague..3dmark03 is more video depended compared to 3dmark01. Although cpu does matter, it does not increase score by that much unless its a big oc.

I didn't see a significant gain in OC'ing the cpu when running 3dmark03. Like the others have stated, it is more about your graphics card than your cpu power.

I have Oc'd my video card quite dramatically.

original: core 400/ mem 850
over clocked: core 460/ mem 955

This was with the stock cooler and everything (benchmarks and games alike) ran without glitching. At these speeds, the video card is incredibly fast. looks incredibly good too. :D

I could never get my memory over 930 without games having little 1/2 second stalls about every 10 seconds.

I'm surprised to see this thread rise fromt he dead...
