small install Linux webserver?

I want to try and setup a small webserver (just to try a few things on) on an older machine with a 2-3 GB drive. So I was curious if people could suggest what flavor and version of Linux to install on it.
So basically I'm looking for one that doesn't take up much HD space, yet is functional.
