Window XP DIsplay HELPPP

Ok i just installed Windows XP Pro from Windows ME onto my computer. And when i got start the computer its starts up fine shows the xp screen and then my screen goes black and the monitor goes into standby mode. I can hear the start up music playing the background while my screen is black. How can i fix this?? Ive already reinstalled xp twice??Any Ideas??

Next time you restart, press F8 as soon as the XP logo starts fading in. Select "Enable VGA mode". Uninstall your old video drivers here and reinstall newer ones which are compatible with XP.

One thing for sure - turn down your resolution/refresh rates in Display Properties.
