:t I've been having a very long delay problem when booting WinXP Pro SP1.

I boot up fine and according to BootVis at about 24-30 seconds all my apps are loaded AND the OS should be handing over control to the user(me). However, this is not the case.

Some app that I can't seem to identify...keeps me from having any control i.e. opening apps like email, web browser, games, windows explorer, any apps at all. That is until about a full 76 seconds after starting the 'puter. 76 seconds is a lifetime when waiting to use a computer.

Even after using the optimize feature of BootVis this still occurs.

Any ideas?

How about turning off some useless services?

and using Msconfig to disable some startup apps?
