I am about to get an A-Pro aluminum case for a new 1.4 GHz Athlon system http://www.a-pro.com/4732PX.htm but I wanted to know if anyone here had strong recommendations otherwise. This case has the front connections for USB, microphone, Gameport, etc.; however, I did not like the single high-sped fan on the 300W Fortron power supply -- it is much louder than the two low-speed Enermax fans. No, the Enermax power supply will not fit that case.

Anyway, can you recommend another quiet case with at least four 5.25" and three 3.5" drive bays AND the front connections or a panel to get those connections?

Thanks.

Hrrrmm...

Milwaukee PC has system built with those, and they had one with a 2-fan PSU, and one with the default, and the Default wasn't really that loud at all.

If ya wanna look at another aluminum case check this out, alittle more expensive, comes without p/s (get the one you actually want) and they have them in differing configurations, I have the PC70: http://www.dansdata.com/pc70.htm

Hawkeye: same here. Milwaukee PC sells this AWESOME tower case for $65, but their Lian Li aluminum thing is $300 (which is average).

Ugh.

I'd rather go get a New MOBO/CPU than get a new aluminum case (which, btw, dend if you hit them with any pressure. I know that the Lian Li's are some of the better ones {thicker aluminum}, but not a ton better than a soda can.

Just curious: has anyone besides me, myself, and dyer_maker been to MPC?

Before this turns into a discussion about MPC, take another look at the title and try to keep the comments on topic.

My only concern would be if this case uses a non-standard powersupply size. Also, ball bearing fans are more reliable than sleeve bearings, but they're also noisier.

Oh... and I wouldn't count on the advertised "15 -30 F lower than the traditional steel chassis" http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

The Lian Li aluminum caes are way too $$$ for me. I am not hung on aluminum but I do really want the front side connections. Seems to me that most cases should have the connections in the front.

Any ideas of cases with the front side connections?

take a look at http://www.frozencpu.com/
I dont have one, yet, but they look real cool:P

If anyone does have one of these, let me know.
I might be looking for a new server for X-mas

The frozen CPU case is over $200 with power supply. It has no front side connections either. I suppose to download digital camera files one would have to crawl under the desk and plug the USB cable into the back of the cabinet. Seems very inconvenient.

Supermicro cases do not have the front connections but they are solid! Why?...no rivets or MB tray! The cavity is wide open for better airflow. The power supplies are efficeint and do not generate a lot of noise or heat.

Check it out! http://www.supermicro.com/PRODUCT/Chassis/sc750.htm

http://www.directron.com/blacmidatxca.html

Thats the case I just got and I absolutely LOVE it. The pictures on that link don't do it justice.. its a really slick case. In fact.. it's the same one they used to use for Alien Ware systems.

Through directron, you can also have them upgrade the PS or fans (80mm in font, 60mm in back) on it and such.. I think some other places use this case with some super fan mods.. but it tends to me alot more expensive. Directron was the best price I found for it. They also have a second model with an extra side fan and few other little extras.
