KidKasha 01-16-2004, 09:50 PM Are the AMD64 Mobo backward compatable with the older version CPU AMD32. missiveusa 01-16-2004, 09:53 PM No, it is a different platform and pin configuration entirely. Socket A 462 ends with the 400 MHz Barton core. scottluebke2003 01-16-2004, 10:27 PM You think AMD will release any new Socket A cpu's? I heard a rumor that they will be producing some and keeping the socket A around for a bit. zybch 01-17-2004, 12:18 AM Probably due to pressure from mobo manufacturers who don't want to re-tool their manufacturing processess all at once. I doubt we'll see any big advance on the Barton 3200+ though. They might go to 3400+ just for the look of the thing, but if anyone thinks that they haven't got their plants all keyed up for A64 chips they are fooling themselves. Lots more profit from an FX51 than an athlon XP 2600+ SysOpt.com
