To make a long, long, stressed out story short, I have a "resorce conflict" with my printer (port). Device manager has a yellow !, when I double click "Printer Port" It says, "This device is causing a resorce conflict (Code 15.) What is code 15? I am running win 98.
Like I said, this is a long story. What can I do to get my com ports going right, after hours of deleting, reinstalling drivers, programs, etc.......? Thank you, Chris.

Found a little bit more of what's going on, but don't know how to fix it. Under Resorces tab it says "interrupt request 07 used by ES1688 AudioDrive" I then went to ES1688 AudioDrive in Device Manager and I see it has the same "Interrupt Request 07" (no Conflicts). I see what's conflicting, but what do I do to fix it? Thank you, Chris.

You'll have to manually adjust the IRQ either of your devices is using, you can try forcing your ESS soundcard to use IRQ 5, since it probably free. It can be done via My Computer/Properties/Device Manager/"Appropriate device".
