im currently having problems with my cable connection, sometimes it times out for maybe 20 seconds or less

usually the connection is good and will quickly slow down for a few seconds or go down for a few seconds

there arent any wires loose, i checked, currently running on win2k pro

no one in my area using cable is really having this problem, would using a linux box make my connection more stable?

i really doubt its a software problem because win2k pretty much fixes it all

Have you tried recycling the modem by unplugging it for a couple of minutes.
Also run winipcfg.
release all.
renew all.
Check with your ISP and see if this is applicable!!

Is DNS working?

From a DOS window if you ping host names does it time out, but when you ping IP addresses it works?
