Hi,

I have a Asus A7N8X rev2.0 motherbaord which has a AthlonXP 1800+ fitted.

I can run the XP1800+ CPU at XP2000+ by setting the multiplier to 12.5x in the motherboard BIOS but when I set the multiplier to 13.0x (to see if I can get it to XP2100+) the PC posts at something like 977MHz or thereabouts (I cant remember exactly).

Basically, instead of being a 13.0x multiplier, it acts like a 7.5x mulitplier. Again, when I try 13.5x, the CPU posts at around 1GHz. When I set it back to 12.5x, the CPU then posts as "AthlonXP 2000+".

Does anyone know why this is and how I can resolve this issue?

Thanks.

Sorry, forgot to mention I tried updating to the latest BIOS (1007 I think) on ASUS website, but that did not help.

It sounds like you have found the overclocking limitations of your PC hardware.
