Nathan 09-02-1999, 01:20 PM Get rid of it and upgrade it to 32 or 64, that's if your motherboard will support it. dawgtuff 09-02-1999, 07:41 PM Tell us what kind of system you have. You may be able to use th RAM you have and add to it. qxyee 09-06-1999, 09:30 AM Hi! Well, i'm doing this for my friend, his system is p166, 16 mb ram, 2 gb hdd, win 95 Thanks!!! dawgtuff 09-06-1999, 03:21 PM You should be able to add more EDO RAM to the system. But,remember the sticks have to be installed in pairs. It probably has 2-8mb sticks in it.I'd suggest buying 2-16mb sticks and install them in the remaining slots. This will give you 48mb's total. While you're at it,delete any programs you don't need, defrag the HD,and run scan disc. If you're going to use this 'puter for gaming, your P166 CPU is the minimum for most games especially 3D.Otherwise, you'll see a big performance increase. PS..I wouldn't install Win98.Upgrade to Win 95B if it isn't that way allready...DawgTuff. Kichigai 09-06-1999, 11:00 PM Sorry if this sounds unhelpful, but a Pentium166 is a fairly ancient machine. I would personally spend ZERO on upgrading it and save my pennies for a new box. Free things to consider: * find a friend that has "tossed out" a 16MB simm/dimm because they needed the slot for a higher density memory module * get rid of ALL items in the startup folder that are putting stuff in the system tray * run one application at a time * take yoga - it increases patience Kichigai KillerBug 09-07-1999, 12:01 AM First, if you upgrade him to win98 (that is only if you have a copy of it for him to rip off), then upgrade, it will greatly increase his disk space. Then, tell him to drop a few bucks and put in 32mb. socalgal 09-07-1999, 12:39 AM KillerBug ~ You're making me work here. No suggestions of "ripping off" Please! I will have to edit your posts in the future if you do it again. Thanks for your support. SysOpt.com
