Curious if anyone knows a good answer to this
I have an Athlon 750, 320 megs of ram, Radeon 32 DDR, SB Live! X-Gamer, Creative 12x DVD/w Decoder, No matter what game I run and what resolution ,I get what I call "hiccups". The game will stutter on a sound and kinda freeze briefly then return to normal. It can't be the Radeon , I wouldn't think, because my voodoo-3 did the same. Any suggestions?
What OS you using?
I had the exact same thing on my system (PIII Coppermine 800EB, 512MB PC133 RAM, 30GB HD, AOpex AX34 MOBO) and using 2000 instead of Me fixed it.
I think Me just has problems with certain Combo's of Hardware. :-(

If the game uses EAX audio try turning it off. The Live has a good internal processor for EAX and they sound great but they do eat up proc cycles - try playing with sound off or at least with EAX off and see if that helps.
If you're using mobo with VIA chipset, you'll need to upgrade to latest VIA 4in1 pack, also be aware of VIA+SB Live! issue, causing problems similar to yours.

Right click My Computer and select properties. Under the performace tab click the Video button. Decrease the performance slider one click at a time until it stops happening.
If that doesn't work disable video shadowing in the BIOS if you have that option.

Also, this could happen if two devices are using memory ranges that are close to each other.
In device manager go into the resource properties of your video card. Uncheck automatic. Change the memory ranges (you may have to select a high confiuration number before Win98 will let you change the ranges)so that not only are they conflict free, but when you scroll up and down the range there are no other devices nearby.
