im in the middle of learning html - made a website try it all out.

probably at any one time therell be 2 or 3 things on there that dont work, and atm its all vv basic



thats not what im here for though, im getting on with HTML fine.


thing is id now like to progress to perl. ive downloaded activeperl or sumthin like tht, but cant work out how to use it. can anyone help? and also can anyone volunteer a good online tutorial for perl please.

the main thing i dont understand is how i make it run.



html is easy, use notepad and ssave it as .html, but what about perl?


btw im on windows xp pro

You can run Perl files locally, but they need an interpreter to actually do anything - it's best just to upload them to your webspace, set the permissions and test it from there. I've got ActivePerl too here somewhere, I'll install it and have a look. As I remember, you could type "perl (name of the perl file)" at the command prompt, and it'd parse it to check for errors, or run it by setting the IP of fake server to the local address of 127.0.0.1... lol, I'm not making much sense :D I'll just try it out...

and.. i hav no idea wat ur sayin wit cmd prompts.. do u mean the fake dos prompt u can open in windows?
