SO, what are peoples' first thoughts on this game? I loved the original and am yet to play the demo that's available but in comparison to the original, do people who've played IW feel it matches up to what the original was, and does it make a good sequel? I know some people in America have played through this game already, what did you think? Is it a dissapointment in any aspect?

It's nothing special but it will occupy your time for a little bit. I don't think it's near as good as the first one. I only played it because I had nothing else to play.

I didn't really like it all that much.

Okay, first off, don't expect a smooth running game at high resoultions regardless of your card and however how high you've clocked it, nor how much ram you have nor how much you've souped your processor up. You will get drops that are signifcant on anything above 800x600 if you start using multisampling. It is still highly playable at 1280x1024 with 2x multisampling on my 9800 Pro 128 meg. The game overall is pretty good just that it does fall short of the original. Is it worth the money, I'd have to say so considering all the other titles out now, but could it have been better? Yes.
It is a bit console like as they practically ported it directly with no optimization done either. Has some serious detractions, but still has enough good to outweigh it. The game just really doesn't give you a chance to use everything at your disposal more often than not along with a majority of the biomods being useless as it is beatable without any biomods. Also no skill system and you have a universal ammo, thus the pistol shoots the same ammo as the rocket launcher. If you can get past the console elements, a great game lies beneath it.

For a game that I was really looking forward too, I was highly dissapointed. So much so that I uninstalled it after playing for about an hour. Graphics and coding SUCK. Whats the point of running a game on a £1000 system when you cant even play the thing smooth at 800x600 with all effcets enabled!

Did you download the patch and THEN go into the Default.ini file and change the Cache size (can't remember the specific one, but it is in a recent thread I think) to your AGP Apeture size. I could run it on a G4 4200 at 800x600 with 2x multisampling and all effects other than bloom on full. It does have some stutters, but that happens even on my rig with the 9800 Pro, albeit at higher resolutions and multisampling. It does have some code issues, but it goes from unplayable to playable with the .ini change. The patch helps with some interface issues and some gameplay issues as well.

sounds like in general, a bit of an anti-hype and a little bit of a disappointment, especially when it comes to performance... shame really as Deus EX was phenomenal. I suppose the better the original, the more of a task it is to create a good sequel... but still, I'll check it out, I just wont be expecting the blow away FPS / RPG that it should have been.
