I have a VX PRO+ CHIPSET MOTHERBOARD with original bios string 8/14/97-VX PRO+UUSB-Ultr-2A5LDH09C-00. I updated my bios because im having problem with my RAM, I replaced it with a 4/30/98-537+ ITE8661F-2A5LDH09C-00 and experienced bigger problems so I researched the net on the right bios string and come up with the "I guess correct one" I replaced it with a 4/30/98-537+ UMC8670F-2A5LDH09C-00, and the results were fine, but my problem is this instead of my modem in COM port 2 (COM2) it is in COM3 and my motherboard only has COM1 for mouse COM2 for modem and LPT1 for printer, but everything is going fine, I just wanted to check if I got the correct one. And also one more question, can I mix SDRAM (DIMM slot) with an older RAM (SIMM slot) because everytime I try to mix it my RAM decreases.

Welcome to Sysopt, Looks and sounds like everything is working right.. If everything is working now thats how I would leave it and see how that goes..

I had an older computer a few years ago that had 48 RAM in SIMS, and I went out and got 128 DIMMS and it worked awesome. Detected the right amount from both SIMMS and DIMMS. Not sure if it would work for you...
