well ... id go with the following
Motherboard *either one of these two is cool*
---------------------------
1) Abit NF7-S V2 (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-127-166&depa=1)
or
2) Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-131-478&depa=1§ion=1)
Hard Drive
---------------------------
Western Digital SE (Special Edition with 8mb cache) (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=22-144-122&depa=1)
RAM
----------------------------
Corsair CMX512-3200C2 512MB DDR400 PC3200 XMS Memory w/Heat Spreader (http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=80097&ps=ho3)

Epox 8KRA2+ motherboard
Hitachi 120GB 8MB cache HDD
Plain old Crucial DDR PC3200 RAM
That Epox motherboard is LOADED. It's a little cramped though.
Actually, I like the Abit NF7 too - I just wanted to be a pain in the ****. :p

CPU:
AMD 2500 or 2800
Heatsink:
TT SilentCooler
Motherboard:
Albatron KX18D-Pro II, after that, either the ASUS or the ABIT for well equipped boards with great onboard sound.
HDD:
Western Digital 120GB 8 meg cache, LB or JB series
RAM:
Crucial 3200 will work great and save you some cash as well.
Add a Sparkle or Fortron 400 watt PSU with a quality case (with all fan slots used) and your in business after you pick a monitor.
There are better components out there mainly for overclocking extremes, but since it's your first time building, no use getting in over your head.
Here's a hard drive to consider: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?DEPA=1&sumit=Go&description=22%2D144%2D118&searchdepa=1
A nice DVD Writer:

Pick a grammar text book too. The most powerful PC in the world can't type for you. Stop being "creative" with cuss words. I'm a moderator and this is a warning. Keep it clean and understandable.
If money is no object, get this:

ThermalTake coolers are noisy - I know this. I recommend a Vantec Aeroflow or the big Zalman.
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=35-118-109&catalog=62&manufactory=BROWSE&depa=0
The Aeroflow is lighter, easier to mount, cheaper and nearly as quiet. It works really well too. I use one.

Yeah - I'm "blk" 2. :p Get real.
Athlon 2500+.
I just can't wait until you start putting this together and asking all sorts of newbie questions. I think I'll go on vacation next week...

If money is no object, just pick up a pre-built gamer PC.
