Could you do something about the colors?
This is what it looks like in Opera:

Wow, looks like we're having browser incompatibility with Opera. Have you tried using IE?

otheos

IE5.5 works ok, but I rarely use it.

Any chance you change the colors?

As you may already know, the background for the board is white and it shows as black on your Opera browser. For you to see it as white, that means the board background will have to be black I think? As you can see in your Opera browser, having a black background makes focusing quite difficult, and very annoying in my opinion. Is there a patch that you can apply for the Opera browser to display the color properly?

Otheos,
Did you manage to get a fix for this from Opera? I am also an Opera convert.

Hey Mntsnow...

I am a Opera 5 / IE5.5 user. I also am in the lovely business of web and graphics design.

If you'd like to e-mail me your index page w/o images, I'd be happy to play with it until I find a cross-browser solution.

I offer this because I've struggled with some similar issues in my pages, and it would be a learning experience. Plus, I get to help a fellow out a little. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

E-mail me, and if you'd like, go ahead and attach the html file. imayak@hotmail.com

Edit >> Silly UBB code. I keep forgetting the "mailto" html tag is "email" in UBB. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I haven't come up with a solution yet, as my system is down. I try to find out what started my DVD-ROM to fail to read anything eversince I changed the region (in W2k)

I'll let you know if I have anything newer

Mntsnow

I'm checking on that....the board works on ASP pages of which I'm new to. I'll keep working on it. Thanks for letting me know....I'm just an IE kind of guy :P

Does it means SysOpt days are over ?!?! Your board looks very nice, like all the posting options and smilies, but I kinda already in love with SysOpt http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif , maybe can you change it to include several features you've added in yours, Mntsnow ?

Best Regards ...

Cool forums.......

.......The opera thing......

The colors in the forum are defined by names like "whitesmoke" isnstead of hex
codes like "#cccccc" This could cause problems, if opera didn't know what
"whitesmoke" was, or rendered it as a different color. I messed about with the
html from one of the messages, whitesmoke seems to be the problem, as it comes
out black http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif Its probably safer to use hex codes, so here's some info you
might want...............

The standard set of color names is: aqua, black, blue, fuchsia,
gray, green, lime, maroon, navy, olive, purple, red, silver, teal,
white, and yellow. These 16 colors are defined in HTML 3.2 and 4.01
and correspond to the basic VGA set on PCs. Most browsers accept a
wider set of color names but use of these is not recommended.

New computers support thousands or millions of colors, but many
older color systems can only show up to 256 colors at a time. To
cope with this, these browsers make do with colors from a fixed
palette. The effect of this is often visible as a speckling of
colors as the browser tries to approximate the true color at any
point in the image. This problem will gradually go away as older
computers are replaced by newer models.
Most browsers support the same so called "browser safe" palette.
This uses 6 evenly spaced gradations in red, green and blue and
their combinations. If you select image colors from this palette,
you can avoid the speckling effect. This is particularly useful for
background areas of images.
If the browser is using the browser safe palette, the page
background uses the nearest color in the palette. If you set the page background to a color which isn't in the browser safe palette,
you run the risk that the background will have different colors
depending on whether the computer is using indexed or
true-color.

Well When you mentioned "Whitesmoke" (Default color from Snitz) I knew Were I had seen that in the setup so it didnt take long to edit that and with you being so kind to list what colors Opera supported natively it was a breeze to fix http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Thanks again!

ps. Yes I will leave Opera installed on my computer as I kicked Netscape off my systems LONG AGO!

hi there mntsnow. i checked out your site and i like it as much as i like sysopt.

all i do now is read and learn in the two forums now.

question: what is opera and how can i try it?

i try just about everything i read about in sysopt.

it's like new foods, some i like and some i don't. but i'll never know if i don't try. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif.

i have even crashed my system twice trying new things.(not sysopt fault,my fault). not having full understanding before i tried something new.(hasn't stopped me)(I even messed up cpu trying to overclock.)

but i am still trying and having fun and many headaches. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Now also has a linux version as well http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Great browser, I like the MDI (multiple document interface) a lot... can have multiple windows inside the one window, saves taskbar space!

PDQ too!
(Pretty **** quick http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Although I find that I sometimes have to load it in IE for some pages to work http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif http://www.abit-usa.com/ is one of them GRRRRRRR

I think everybody should email them and tell them to clean up their act... I already did!

otheos

Yeah, OPERA is excellent, but you still need IE for a few pages. You see people are so stubborn they rather cripple html (so that only works in IE properly) than learn!
