Windows 98 Sound Recorder will not work

I can't get the sound recorder to work with a microphone. I have recently acquired a new Micron Millenium P600, the sound card is a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live. The microphone works in the sound card with the mixer function, but does not work when trying to record. The sound recorder will record from the CD and from other wav files. Any and all help will be appreciated.

Hi! the recorder might not work if the plug is not connected if you have an external microphone. If the plug is in securely, you will have to check settings whether the microphone conflicts with any device (my computer\control panel\ system). That should do it.
