Just went from WinXP (lotsa probs) to Win2k...a lot fewer probs :p
but for some reason, Win2k says my AGP slot is disabled. My 9500pro is recognized, and I can see everything, but when I run Max Payne 2 (1280x1024 6xAA 16xAF - ran perfect b4 i switched OSes) its REALLY laggy. When i first installed the game, it said my AGP slot wasnt in use so my graphics wont be as good. under properties>settings>advanced>smartgart it says my AGP slot is off. Tried setting it to 8x and restarted, but when i checked, was back at off. how can i get win2k to recognize my AGP slot?

You mean, how do you get W2K to use the AGP slot in AGP mode not PCI?

Go to device manager, choose "Devices by Connection" view mode, and see whether the bridge device your graphics card hangs off is listed as some "AGP port" or as a generic "PCI-to-PCI bridge device". If the latter, it's time to reinstall the chipset's AGP bus driver.

Ya it says PCI to standard PCI bridge. I just need to re-install the catalyst drivers?

Nope, the board's AGP driver. Look it up, it may be included in the chipset drivers.

Its not on the CD that came w/my board. Asus P4P800. Ill check online.

If I download it, will i need to flash it, or just install the driver?

Edit: Im here (http://www.asus.com.tw/support/download/download.aspx) (graphic cards>VGA), and I dont know which one I should download, if I should download at all. Also, in advanced display properties, when i look at catalyst driver details, it says my AGP bus is set to 0...obviously 0 is the universal "off" digit. How can i change my "0" to "1."

Try this link (http://www.asus.com/support/download/item.aspx?ModelName=P4P800) and click on Utilities. Download and install the latest chipset drivers.

Somehow I don't think you need to worry about the zero. I'd check mine but I'm in a different operating environment right now. Zero doesn't always mean off, it can also mean 'first' or 'primary'. For example the first of two hard drives is Disk 0 in DOS.

Ya, but that cant apply to anything with only a single element. Only one AGP slot, so you cant say AGP 0 and AGP 1. Its like any game console (or soooo many other things)...showfps 0 or showfps 1...just as an example. Anyways, I tried the Asus CD again, and reinstalled the chipset drivers, and everything is a-ok. Thanks for the help guys, and on a side note, I just finished Max Payne 2, and the ending was definately somewhat lacking.
