In choosing a speaker, which has better quality if you based it in terms of Frequency Response:
35 Hz to 20 KHz or
20 Hz to 20 KHz
Thanks everyone!

Explorer 08-31-2001, 12:40 AM The speaker that can reproduce 20 Hz will have better bass response than the 35Hz speaker. i.e. better low frequency sound, the deep booming sounds. This is, however, assuming all else is equal and it usually isn't. To truly faithfully reproduce a 20Hz note requires a fairly large speaker cone (8" or larger) and much more amplifier power. Unfortunately, some less reputable manufacturers will design the built in amplifier in a computer speaker system to boost the really low frequencies without much regard to the quality of the sound. It will be "muddy" and distorted but they will be able to legally say it reproduces 20Hz notes. There is another "Catch 22". The speaker may reproduce 20Hz notes but do it at a much reduced decibel (volume) level than other higher frequencies. So much reduced that you will have difficulty actually hearing the note. All in all, the best thing to do is to listen to the two speakers playing a wide range of tones and pick the one that sounds best to you. Hope this has been of some help. SysOpt.com
