And yes, I've heard numerous times on this forum that Crucial is the best.
Yes, it's the best, but where can I find it in Toronto? Or can I only order it?
What other types of Ram companies are there? And how are they like?
I've heard of Kingston as well, somewhere around this forum. They're supposibly good as well.
Infenion makes high-quality memory in my opnion...

I've used several sticks of it and I think it's great. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
Oh, I've heard that Mosel and Mushkin are also good brands.

Infineon is very high quality. Their higher quality stuff is good for overclocking too http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Crucial is online-only (AFAIK). www.crucial.com. (http://www.crucial.com.) I'm pretty sure they ship internationally.

Ahhh, thanks, now I feel relieved in buying Infineon . . . Might order Crucial next time I need more ram.
How much is ram is overkill for WinMe?

I suppose that depends on what applications you're running. If all you're doing is playing MineSweeper, 64MB is probably overkill. My WinMe runs anything I throw at it just fine with 768MB. I often have six or seven programs open simultaneously when I work on my PC. Just keep an eye on your swap file usage. If it's using a lot of HD space, it's time to get more RAM.

It's not a law. It's a theory that can't be disproven. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
heh....
I am forced to use Windows 2000 Pro (not that that's a bad thing...) at the moment. Windows Me refuses to run more than a couple of minutes in anything that uses more than 2-3% CPU usage (including itself...). Tribes 2 gives me audio-only, UT just bombs out. (Please note all the software and driver versions are the EXACT SAME in Me and 2000... I downloaded every stinkin' driver for every fartin' piece of hardware and chip and transistor on this system... that's a hefty task for a pinpipe... i.e. 56k).
Any ideas?
Oops! I forgot to mention: I am using 512MB PC133 RAM, on a AOpen AX34 w/ Pentium III Coppermine 800EBMHz.
Thanks!
I think Infineon is one of the best memory brands. It used to be another company name...I don't remember which.
Anyway, I have yet to see a bad stick of it, but I see bad Crucial and Kingston sticks all the time.

256 should be more than adequate for most people. I would not add more because of the law of diminishing returns...

Really?
Cool . . . .
I didn't know that Crucial would have bad sticks . . . I thought they'd have very high quality control.

Infineon make top notch memory... so does Crucial.
Crucial has many times more memory modules on the market than Infineon, so even if the failure rate is EXACTLY the same, the "perception" is that the more popular manufacturer has a more trouble.
My Leadtek Geforce 256 DDR has Infenion DDR memory on it. The memory on this card overclocks extremely well. I think Infenion is made in Germany, right?

You can find infineon RAM at www.dealsdirect.ca (http://www.dealsdirect.ca)
It's the best canadian e-tailor in my opinion

Infineon used to be called Siemens I believe. Made in Germany and high quality at a reasonable price.

I think that Infineon makes some nice Ram. My current favorite Ram is Corsair CM654S256-150C2 256MB 32X64 XMS150 (PC150) CAS LATENCY 2 . Its the fastest and most stable Ram I've ever used. You can overclock the heck out of it or just tweak your BIOS Memory setting to the fastest setting and it runs great.
I replaced a bad Kingston 256 yesterday ( with hitachi chips ), the replacement was kingston, but had Infineon chips on it...I thought that was cool.
edit: I was mistaken...it was mushkin...and was marked wrong according to her. (PC 133 vs PC100 )
It's not a big problem, because today I am going to order two registered ddr dimms from Crucial...just because I want to get them before prices go back up next month. I think once the mem price goes up, they will stay up until after the new year. I'm afraid that NOW is the time to buy memory.

Yeah, I put in some new Kingston pc133 last week that has Infineon chips on it. So far it seems to be running fine.
Well...It's done for me...
I just ordered my two Crucial DDR registered 256's ( $43 each direct from Crucial...with free shipping to boot http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif )

Why will the prices be going up again?
