I just upgraded from a ti-4200 to a 9800 XT with 3.10 drivers.
I unistalled nvidia drivers, rebooted, deleted nvidia folder, then installed the new drivers but now I have some problems...

I ran 3dmarks 2001 SE and got a score of 6027. Yet, With my 4200 I was able to reach 11k. I just assumed this was because the 2001 used DX8 and the XT is DX9.

So I ran 3dmarks 2003, got a score of just over 2000.

I'm running:
AMD 2500 Barton non-overclocked
NF7-S Rev 2
512MB PC3200 twinmos/winbond
9800XT w/ 3.10 drivers

It seems like somethign is wrong. I'm going to try reinstalling drivers, but is there anything else I can try?

Also,

I tried running Detonator RIP but I get the following error message:

"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). CLick OK to terminate the application."

Is there another way to remove the nvidia registry files?
I did start > run > regedit and I saw the nvidia file, but I'm unsure whether I can delete it right there without side effects.

Also, since I'm running the NF7-S rev. 2 I'm unsure whether thats chipset drivers or remains of previous video drivers.

You should just use Add/Remove Programs.

I would reinstall the chipset drivers (updated, naturally) and then the ATi drivers.

If you're using XP, I would see if System Restore has a restore point predating this mess.

Make sure your not benchmarking with Antialiasing, Anisotropy or Vsync on and that all visual detaisl are set to minimum as they will limit your score massively

Ok, I understand what you're saying, but what you're suggesting, I can't do anymore. There are no nvidia drivers under add/remove programs, there is no nvidia folder in my C:, the only remains must be what's in the registry. However, I can't get any programs to detect/remove them.

Here's where I stand:

I have completely removed all drivers(Nvidia when I first instaleld the card, and ATI now) by add/remove program, and I have deleted the ATI and nvidia folders on the hard drive.

Detonator destroyer doesn't detect any Nvidia drivers. Which, it shouldn't. There are none installed. So the little window remains blank.

Detonator RIP doesn't work for me. It gives me this error:

"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click OK to terminate the application."

Finally, I tried regcleaner, but it only fixes registry errors. I doesn't give me any kind of checklist like what someone else suggested for me.

Any ideas now?

One more thing:

When I go to start < run < regedit, under HK_local_machine and under the software tab, I see an nvidia folder. I'm tempted to delete it.

However, I have an NF7-S motherboard and I'm thinking those could be somethign to do with my chipset and not the old nvidia video card.

What do you think about that?

I think you need to use System Restore or reinstall Windows because you are riding roughshod. You should not delete that folder and you should reinstall the chipset drivers.
