For some reason my screen's icons all of a sudden decided not to show up. The text is there and some of them are okay, but most have no graphics picture and the icons on the systray are fine and so are all the other Icons except the desk top ones and the ones on the toolbar by the start button. Just looked at the icons on the start menue and they are as screwed up as the others. Anyone have any Ideas?

Part 2. My other computer doesn't like my floppy. I went in to CMOS and enable 3.5 floppy and it shows as 3.5 floppy when I click "My Computer". However, when I click on the drive it just says "Drive A, not ready". the dummy light stays on all the time. The MOBO is an MSI KT7a133. Anyone know what the problem is?

A floppy light that does not go out sometimes indicates a floppy ribbon cable installed backwards. Verify Pin 1 cable to Pin 1 on the floppy drive.

As far a the icons being lost. If the executable program associated with the file types (picture files for example) are deleted, then the icons are lost. The best way to recover the icons to double click them. A prompt will appear asking which program to use to open the file. Select your preferred program and make sure the check box for "Always open....' is selected. This will reestablish the file type.

The double clicking did not work.
I can open the programs but my screen is just wierd. I have turned the puter off and on, unplugged it. Still nothing. The puter says my software environment is fine.

Search for a file called shelliconcache, probably in your C:\Windows directory. Delete or rename it, and Windows will create a new one when you reboot. Sometimes this file gets corrupted and needs to be restored.

Cadetstimpy has the right answer for your floppy drive. Turn one end of your floppy cable the other way and it should hopefully work.

Had a case of someone installing a version of MS Internet Explorer with active desktop and the icons all changed to the same graphic. Reinstalling the latest IE seemed to fix it. Good luck.

Thanks all, I'll try this stuff when I get home.
