Hello, I have a TDK 40x ?x 40x cdrw, and lately it's been having focus problems during burns. Also, If I burn a cd, it often isn't recognised or can't be read until I reboot the machine. Also, it seems that if I burn multiple disks at once, the last one or 2 won't be useable, even though it says that the burn was completed successfully. I'm usng nero 6 ultra edition. I thought my problem was the cheaps cds I was using, but with the new tdk disks the problem remains.
Any ideas? This cd burner isn't that old...is it croaking?

Sounds like that drive may very well be going bad...
For free, try putting the CDRW on another IDE channel, and/or try a different ribbon cable for it.
See if that helps. Make sure to jumper it correctly when you move it around.

It could be worse, at leasr CDRW drivers are pretty cheap now. It could have been a DVD/RW drive.
