"I just found out that if you are experiencing low download speeds from kazaa lite and you have a router, it is the router that is causing the slow speeds. Use software based firewall if you have the need for the protection to get around this. The significant difference in searches and download transfer rates is just unimaginable.
I hope this info helps you guys out that use kaza or kazaa lite."
I got this from another forum, and yes I am experiencing this problem. I don't exacly know what to do, could someone please help me? What software based firewall thingy do I need? I have high speed cable, and most of my downloads on kazaa or any other p2p program, I get between 1kb/s and 20 kb/s. That isnt right.

"For Kazaa to work correctly you need to forward the default Kazaa ports (usually 1214 UDP and TCP) to the computer you are running Kazaa on. After setting up that rule on your router, all traffic sent to port 1214 on your router will automatically be forwarded to your computer. Yet this makes it impossible to use Kazaa on a second computer unless you change the ports Kazaa is using (on the second computer) and apply a corresponding rule to your router.

Would it work if I plug my modem directly to the computer I'm using? Also you know the link you sent me, where can I find the windows displayed under this "I then set up two packet filters on the ISA Server itself to forward the packets (TCP + UDP)"?
Thank you.

You can plug the modem directly into the PC if you like. I doubt that you'll see a huge improvement. You will have to power the modem off for a minute and then plug it in to get a connection. Also you know the link you sent me, where can I find the windows displayed under this "I then set up two packet filters on the ISA Server itself to forward the packets (TCP + UDP)"? All of that depends on the router you're using. Most routers have Port Forwarding. Please read your manual and apply the settings recommended in that article.
Please make sure that you have antivirus protection and that it's up to date.
