Question 1: I want to transmit old vhs and vhs-c home videos to disc. I've found an ATI all in wonder pro 32 meg card for $120 shipped. Is this the cheapest way and best to proceed? Money is an issue. I really don't need another video card however cards like TV wonder don't come with video editing software. Case in point, I'm using a Voodoo 3 right now so I thought all I need is the Voodoo TV 100 to capture video. But I read that card doesn't capture in 740X480 and doesn't edit video either. Am I in the ballpark?
Question 2: Firewire... Is that only usable with digital camcorders? Mine is an older vhs-c analog. Actually forget that cause I still need to transfer and edit these tapes regardless.

You don't need the tv tuner if you're just planning on capturing from vhs. And, if you have vhs, you don't need it to watch tv anyway.
Get a vivo of something, it's adequate.

Well, it depends on what quality you are looking for. I personally just bought the ATI AIW Pro 128, but haven't gotten to use it for video capture. I'm wanting to purchase a better system for that.

I believe the ATI AIW will do the job for you, but the editing capabilities are pretty limited.

As for Firewire, as far as I know they only work for digital camcorders, but some DV kits also include analog inputs.

Sorry I can't help any more, but I'm also new into video capture and editing.

I had an AIWPro 8Meg in my old machine and did video editing just fine. It depends more on the software than the video card. I use MGI VideoWave. The 8meg card came with Version 2, current version available is 4. There's also other programs for video editing like Ulead and one called Video Factory.

Let me be more specific. I want to be able to transfer video tapes to disc, then cut some of the file away and make separate files. Is that considered editing?

If you have Windows ME, it comes with somethign to do that already.
