Some set theirs to 1.5x. There is little difference. Be sure to defrag before setting the swap file to a fixed amount. Dave NDC 08-29-2001, 06:12 PM The best way to determine how large you should set the Page File size depends on how you use your system! The best way to determine the size would be to run the system slightly heavier than you normally would (Perhaps open more programs than you normally would) and open up the "Task Manager" (Performance Monitor incase of Win9x) to see how much the Page File is actually being hit. Yes, caddmannq has a good point. 2.5X is what most swap file optimization articles tell you to set the page file to. However, I disagree. Does that mean if I have 512MB RAM, I should set it to 1GB? Chances are, with 512MB, the page file isn't even going to be used! What a waste of disk space that would be! I'm sure with monster size hard disks available nowadays, that would be your last concern. But why waste disk space for something that isn't going to be used?
