I recently noticed that Dell has changed their Optiplex computer cases. I loved the old beige desktop and tower cases as the best pc cases to get into (by far). Does anybody have any opinions on the new Optiplex cases as opposed to the old beige cases? Are the new cases as easy to open and access as the GX1 series? I am reluctant to upgrade my older Optiplexes until I know the scoop on the new cases.
Thanks.
Well, I have used quite a few of the optiplexes. I have even taken one somewhat apart.
They are wonderful. Easy to get into, and instead of tons of fans, they have one fan in the back, and a duct (premade so it looks nice and professional). One of the ducts goes over the CPU, and the other over the AGP/PCI area.
They are nice!

I think the new cases are easier to close than the old Optiplex.
The newer ones have a neat Green plastic duct to channel air over the HS, as mentioned above, it's a really professional looking setup IMHO http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

you know, those ducts with only a case fan is the absolute WORST design ever. what if you upgrade your motherboard and your cpu's socket isn't directly below it, or you get a processor that needs more airflow then that to cool? you're screwed. it's a bad design i think.

i actually do tech support for dell, and the other day we got a chance to tear down the Dimension 8200 before it even hits the market. i will say the new cases are GREAT, the new skydive case are so very easy to get around in, and their deisgn blows away any other case..upgrade you wont be sorry! later.
