Whenever I play a Game with either my Geforce 2 PRO or my Radeon 64 MB DDR I get these horrid skippy sound on every game. My Motherboard is an Asus K7V-E with an Athlon Thunderbird 1 Ghz. My sound card is an Diamond MX400 (NOT THE GEFORCE CARD BTW). I have experienced this before with a K62- 500 and a Geforce 2 GTS on a DFI MoBo. BTW whenever I switch the Videocards I do a clean install of Win 98 SE. Are their any BIOS settings I should screw with? Is it the soundcard that doesn't like the Mobo? Come on I really need help!! Last time this happend I ended up buying a Voodoo 5 and cried for days as I had to return the Geforce 2 GTS for that POS vidcard. Anyway If I cant get any help Ill just pick up a SiS 735 based motherboard. PLEASE even though their 80 bucks Id rather keep the 80 bucks then buy a new motherboard.

Well, it sounds like an IRQ conflict with the sound card. I have experienced this before. Is the sc sharing an IRQ with anything besides IRQ for PCI steering?
You can manipulate irq settings in the BIOS or in the OS. I would also try disabling any SB16 emulation if the MX400 has it. Not as familiar with it as others, but I think my old MX300 had a SB16 emulator.

BTW, there is no real reason to reformat and reinstall when you change out the video card. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Good luck
