I've got a SB Live! 5.1 but it crackles like crazy on my Epox 8KTA3+.

The Santa Cruz and the Philips Acoustic Edge seem to be the two cards I am leaning toward. Please help me decide which one to get! I guess you could confuse things even more if you know of another sound card I shoud consider. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

The Santa Cruz is definately a good alternative to the SB lineup.

Just don't get Aurreal - they out of business http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

The Santa Cruz is an excellent choice, but you may want to wait just a little while to see reviews and real-life experiences on the new Audigy from Creative Labs. I'm curious to see if they're gonna regain the crown (if they ever really lost it).

Yeah, I have heard about the new Audigy cards that are coming out. Is any pricing information available about them?

How much longer will I have to wait? The audigy series will have to prove itself before Creative gets anymore of my money.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Have you tried the sound on your motherboard?

sys-eng, I'm not sure if you are serious or joking. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif I've heard the on-board sound on an 8KTA3 before and it's not nearly as good as the sound from a SB Live!.
I need to get something that sounds just as good (or better) than a SB Live!, won't crackle, and has at least 4 speaker output.

Yeah, but you never answered his question.. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
I have sound on a couple MSI boards that sounds as good as my Soundblaster Live,, and you can buy Klipsch speakers with the money you save http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif

ON board sound from my epox 8k7a does sound better than my SB-live value, in my opinion. Its louder. I got 3 speaker setup, but I mainly use my headphones. The headphone volume was kinda low with sb-value due to it not being powered. I did like the sound effects of the sblive though. I might see if I can use that program with my new mobo.
