I currently use www.register.com (http://www.register.com) to register my Domain name with. They charge $35.00 a year (US). I use url forwarding to a Tripod site. I am coming up for renewal and was looking at some cheaper alternatives. Plus their Email forwarding service is not reliable. My needs in a register service are:
URL forwarding
Frame Forwarding
Email forwarding
This is all pretty basic stuff. One site that caught my eye is www.buydomains.com (http://www.buydomains.com) . They offer all that for $16.00 a year (US). Anyone use them or have a better alternative.
Why are the pricing so varied for similiar services? What do I look for in choosing one? How much trouble is it to transfer a domain name?
Thanks

Do you have any experience with this company?
I am wanting my domain name to always be in the browser. I think that is called frame forwarding. Do you know if they offer that. I didnt see it on their website.
Thanks

I cant really answer your question, as $35 seems to be what I have always heard.
BUT, make sure to read the fine print on discount web name hosts.
I saw one a while ago, forget the page, that THEY would register the name, and basically rent it back to you.
I didn't care for the idea, as I would not OWN the domain name.
Make sure to check that out before signing up a name.
Good luck
Check out http://www.namecheap.com ... I had been using Namezero.com for a while but they have a little banner frame for all your sites. Then I paid $19.95 to buy out the domain name and continue their forwarding services without the banner.
I would still be with them today, but I changed to http://www.readyhosting.com because they cost $99/yr with lifetime renewal of the domain... they are an actual host for that cost. You can't beat what they have to offer for that price. It's ~$8/mo.!

Thanks!
Price is not as much of a concern as reliability and features. I dont want to pay more than I am now (35.00 / year) but I want a good service for my money. I am satisfied with the company I have now except for email forwarding. I know very little about these registering companies. I have read through all these sites.
I guess what I want is personal experiences. Both good and bad.
Thanks
