Hi! Maybe this is not the right forum for my problem, but...
Does anyone have an idea how can I make my SB live platinum 5.1 sound card work under Win XP? It does not recognize it, only as a SB Audigy. The driver it came with the sound card also doesn't work. I can't return the card for its incompatibility with WinXP... Plese help me! Thanx... Merry Xmas.

Did you try downloading a new driver for XP?

I don't get it - I use the Live! on two machines - both with XP. I have no problems.

The only way that Windows would load an Audigy driver is if you tried to install them yourself.

I would suggest that you take the card out and look at it. If it says Audigy on it, it is.

I use a Live on XP as well and must say the drivers are particulary bad and I have numerous troubles getting them to work.

Download the latest ones (released March last year) and it improves somewhat, but the Live card's are nearly as well supported as the Audigy 2 under XP.

No problems with my Live 5.1 and XP Pro, running the newest drivers from Creative.

I asked for a new driver cd in the store but the one I've got doesn't work either. And the card is not an Audigy...

Try these drivers:

http://us.creative.com//support/downloads/download2.asp?centric=50&dlcentric=1926&ProductName=Sound+Blaster+Live!+5.1&OS=10&OSName=Windows+XP

You may have to order the CD.

By the way, what happens after you install this card and reboot? Is it detected? I'm beginning to think that it's damaged. Try another PCI slot. Update your motherboard BIOS too.

It worked in the store so i think it can't be damaged. The guy there gave another driver cd , which he said is the one installed on his computer but that did not work either. I downloaded 5 different driverd and none of them work. It was an OEM version and the only way I can use it is to install the drivers found in the directories of the cd which came with the card and using the driver for audigy cards. I tell you about the results when I install the driver in the address you geve but I don't think it will work. Anyway, I found a site called The kX Project Site, where there are drivers for Creative sound cards but I couln't try them yet.

The kX driver seems to work... So my problem is solved, I think. :)
