downloaded and have been using the new Netscape 6.l for about 1 week.
so far--seems great--very fast and no crashes..seems faster than IE 5.5..
would appreciate others' expereinces with this "new" browser!
Yeah, I agree... Netscape 6.1 is a dramatic improvement over the buggy 6.01. As I said with that 6.01 version, Netscape has done everything but put the IE icon in the upper right hand corner. It's virtually like IE5 now... speed and CSS support are the most notable improvements... but IE5 was there first. I don't mind using this Netscape version once in a while, but its load-up time still needs work.
I have it and I like it. I'm thinking that this will become my primary browser.

Ok I'm REALLY hoping somebody can help me here!!
I can't use netscape at work, cause we're pretty strict about what software is loaded (grumble grumble lol) BUT
We have a T1 at work so I can download it from there, and install it at home http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
(56k at home*sigh*)
The problem is, I don't know how to JUST download it!!
There is an option to download all the files into a folder for distribution, but it also tries to install it on my machine http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif
Tends to **** me off lol
Anyways, does anybody know how to JUST download it into a directory so I can burn it to cd and take it home?!?!?!

try http://www.mozilla.org
netscape 6.1 is based on an older version of mozilla (0.9.2.1), get the newest one (0.9.3)...

Why don't you just order a copy from Netscape as far as I'm concerned is also free?

Download Netscape (http://home.netscape.com/download/index.html?cp=dju1) I am using it now so I cant test the link, but this looks like where I got the full download before for 6.01. Oh, and right click and "save as"
Oh and I think its pretty nice, I needed a change.

N6.1 for Linux has flash and java support; that is nice. N4 also had those things, but it looked terrible. I like it!

Thanks surreal however, that still downloads the setup program very similar to IE's setup.
However, there is a flag you can set with IESetup to ONLY download... thats kinda what I'm looking for with netscape setup ....
you could go to their ftp site
ftp://ftp.netscape.com/pub/netscape6/english/6.1
and download just the files you want
