No one is not better than the other. They're just different types of interface. Slot interface is phasing out or should I say it already has. However, I do notice that there's a better selection of heatsink/fan for socket processors! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

If you plan to upgrade, probably a socket is the way to go. Like NDC said, slots are phasing/phased out (sniff...). I have a few computers that I can't really do much with as far as processor upgrades, because I am limited to a slotted CPU or a "Sloket" which is a slotted card you put a socketed CPU on.

As far as the ones you metioned; Socket 7 is pretty old (for Pentium MMX and AMD K6). Slot A is for AMD processors, and Slot 1 is for Intel. Opinions vary which is better. Read some posts and you'll learn a lot about it.
