Long ago my northbridge fan went out. I removed the fan and left the heatsink. My chipset temp idles about 35C and at load is about 41C. I havent noticed any problems, but I would like to cool it better. However, I do not want active cooling as I have seen that most chipset fans are extrememly loud. I have seen a nice Zalman heatsink on their website and I have also seen Vantecs iceberg setup, but its a grib of pieces and active cooling. Any suggestions? Remember, passive cooling is what I am looking for. It must be shallow because I have a Zalman flower heatsink on my cpu.

If you think that active cooling is too loud, then you must have only heard faulty fans. I can't hear my NB hsf.
Zalman have the ZM-NB47J which is quite good so long as your mobo has mounting holes for the existing cooler.
It comes with thermal paste and the neccessary mounting brackets and screws.

i'll probably snag an Iceberg. If its as quiet as you say. My chipset temp is higher than most peoples cpu temps. 37 idle, 43 load. No problems though. Thanx for the recommendation
