Whenever I benchmark my system using 3DMark2001SE, the score I get each time is lower compare to the score I got last time.

What is the reason?

Need to reboot before running the bench again.

Also, the benches will never be the same and will vary.

one more thing, the results were quite far from those found in my computer magazine. Why?

the Scores are usually with a couple of hundred points each time you run...usually second run or so is lower than first run....for whatever reason?

make sure that you have dissable all AA & AF and make sure all graphics options are set to performance..whatver card you are using. This makes a big difference.

which is better, perfomance or quality setting?

Everything on high performance will give you the highest scores. Make sure you are using the up-to date drivers etc. also. Especially if its an NVidia card...drivers and benchmark results have been jumping about all over the place lately.

perfomance is for speed and quality is for better image quality, am I right?

That is true. Quality raises ur mipmapping details etc. High quality on ATI will bring in a certain ammount of AA & AF...not sure about
NVidia now.

Just set everything to performace before you benchmark...this will give you the best score. What card and drivers are you using?
