I have a Gigabyte 6BXC m'board and had 128MB SDRAM. I have recently installed an extra 256MB of SDRAM, but now my computer feels slower, takes longer to open images etc. It also now does not shut down OK. I have changed nothing else, and was wondering whether anyone had an idea on this. Thank you in anticipation

What operating system are you running? If its one of the win9x variety, that may be the problem. Win9x OS's don't handle large amounts of ram very well.
Have you tried it with just the 256mb stick in your machine? That might help.

thanks
i was running ME, however, overnight i have reformatted and installed 98SE (?more stable). I will try the single bank of RAM trick and see if it works. My BIOS is uptodate, the motherboard says it will handle this ( can this be run at 133MHzFSB?)
Thank you for your reply
