Does anyone have any experience with this power supply? jman01pa 08-23-2001, 03:44 AM How about a little more info? Is it a CompUSA brand? Is there a model number? Is it the same size as a 300watt? J http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif LACEY 08-23-2001, 06:51 AM I thought the description was in the title but here goes. The box says CompUSA 500 watt ATX power supply. Dual Ball Bearing Cooling Fan, Low Acoustic Noise, High Reliability, Short circuit Portection, Over Voltage Protection, Thermal over load cut off protection, MTBF:>100,000 hours at full load, 110 vac and 25 degree C ambient condition, Over Current Protection, FCC Class B appproved, UL Approved, Supports Intel, Pentium 4 and AMD Athlon CPU. No model number but the sku # is 282827. FMI/CompUSA brand and is not listed on the website I have however seen it in all of the B&M stores. I compared to the specs of a Antec 400W they had in stock and they were the same. I say go for it. My 400W PS is a lot more substansial (in build and weight) than my AMD-approved 300W that came with my ATX case. gyoung 08-23-2001, 07:44 AM I've seen that power supply in the store also. On the website it said the manufacturer is FMI while the name on the box says CompUSA. It was listed on the site about 3 weeks ago. I tried looking for FMI on the net and couldn't find anything. If it is a 500W PS and works like one then I would think it is a good deal for $79.99. Anyone bought one? [This message has been edited by gyoung (edited 08-23-2001).] Brian48 08-23-2001, 09:42 AM I had to trash both my 300w ps from CompUSA. The first one went dead within 2 months, the second one developed a very strong and nauseous odor within 5 months. Although it still functioned, I had to remove it because it literally made everyone sick within 15 minutes of it running. Personally speaking, I would never buy another CompUSA ps again. Especially since they are no cheaper than any of the higher end name brands from Antec, Enermax, Sparkle, etc. netrunner3 04-06-2002, 04:57 AM FMI (Fujitsu Microelectronics Incorporated) is who manufactured these power supplies for CompUSA. I got the 500W model you are talking about about 2 months ago $79.99, and it is working fine and I have a custom built comp with alot of extras. No problems at all.Runs cool at about 24C ambient. It is the same size as the 400W model. I modified mine and gave it a black laquer face lift to boot.I do have one question maybe you all can help me with though.............I removed the label from mine and i'm going to place a 156W peltier on my water-cooler but before I do i need the specs off the side of that FMI 500W P.S. If someone could email me the voltage specs off the side I would really appreciate it as I have, like you, to locate it's specs on the net to no avail. Thanks for the effort........my email is netrunner3@hotmail.com.................:D jrb420 04-06-2002, 10:08 AM I just bought a 400W ATX power supply from CompUSA to replace my 230W that died. I bought the CompUSA PSU because the Antec only came with a single fan and the CompUSA has dual fans. So far it's been great. I got it for less that $60. The Antec was $80. I've only had it for a couple weeks, so I don't have any info on it's life span, but it seems good so far. SysOpt.com
