I was on windows update just a min ago to check out some stuff. I noticed a link that said Hardware Support so I decieded to click on it. Next thing I know I'm at my own website (far from tech support but I do have tech news, some times). I go back to the page and try again. Same thing. The link leads to my page. It is only showing up on my comp and not any other family members. I am running IE6 Beta and the rest of my comps are running IE 5.5. Check this out (http://maverick.mahan.net/windowsupdate.jpg) . Its a screen shot of the window. I didn't photo edit this at all and if you don't believe me then I don't care.

Just a thought - do you have that address in your oeminfo.ini file? Microsoft doesn't support OEM installations of their products, so maybe they are looking there for the computer's manufacturer info.

As howste said, it's reading the line form your Winnt/system32/oeminfo.ini that says: SupportURL

Change that or deleted and the Hardare support link will not be there at MS's site!

Yes, thats it. I put my website in there cause I built my computers and I didn't know what else to put. Whew! I thought MS was using those Smart Tag things and linking to me. If so, I would have a lot of questioning visitors.
