After my desktop opens the mouse always has the hourglass next to it and none of the keys on the key board are operative.I noticed this
after installing Microgarfx and Norton System
works 2001.
OS-WIN 2K Pro
AMD Athlon 600MHZ

Not completely positive about this, but I have read of other problems between Norton 2001 and Win2K. How about going into Win in safe mode (F8 after dos detect) and uninstall Norton works and see if that fixes it. I only installed NAVNT on my Win2K installation.

They only way that I can get out of this mode is to press "reset".After pressing reset a window appears to run disk check, when disk check is done it goes to the win 2K log on screen.

From a cold boot, hit F8 as the dos screen loads the hard drives, ect. This should give you the choice of selecting safe mode. If you can get into Win in safe mode, you may be able to uninstall Norton Works. Try this and let us know how that went.

I have two drives in the computer, one connected at a time as master. Can I set up the problem on as slave and the good one as master and aaccess the drive to remove the programs.I currently have the good drive running as a master with this being the only drive connected.

It would be best to uninstall the app while having the affected drive as the boot drive. The affected OS must have the offending registry problems removed, which would hopefully happen when you uninstall the NSW 2K1. You will have to do as Bovon says and boot into safe mode by pressing F8.

Uninstalling from another OS (or another hdd running the same OS) will cause problems. I would not do that.
Good luck
Dave

Thanks everyone, the problem here is that none of the keys on the keyboard function once I log in.The system goes through the same steps each time after a reset.I do not see the screen where I can press F8 for troubleshooting options. My problem is that I either accept the disk check or not, after each option it takes me to the WIN 2K log in screen. After logging in the desktop appears and everything freezes. Is there another way that I can access the programs to delete them,I am not concerned about losing information on the drive.

Here is my solution,
I booted off the WIN 2K cd and the deleted all partions and reformatted the drive. I tried the repair console first but that did nothing for me.Thanks for the input everyone.
