The line that got me was "Through monitoring your connection, you allow us to proactively
identify and quickly fix problems in your area etc..." I, myself, hadn't had too many problems and most of others I know with Bellsouth seem to be pretty satisfied with their service. Sounds like spyware to me. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

May or may not be spyware....depends on the level of detail they are gathering.

To me, it sounds like they want your machine to do the logging for them to be used for troubleshooting.

Not necessarily a bad thing in that it may be the only way they have to gather a fair amount of "real user" statistics from the users themselves, but to be honest, you really don't know what they are gathering, and how they are going to use it.

Me, being the skeptic, would not use this "service", and leave the info gathering to those who are less paranoid or ignorant.

I think Target is on Target. If you have even a slight qualm about it, don't install it.

my verizon adsl had something like this, not knowing any better I let it install the first time I set the adsl up, it drove zone alarm nuts, got rid of it quick, now I don't use any of there **** software. just give my smc router my password and sighn in nick and tell it is the pppoe over ethernet and away I go.
