Good survey to see something to try and help beos out but plain and simple I think beos is toast. For starters beos isn't a very widely used os which hurts it because palm sees this. Second of all palm stocks are not doing very well so they don't have the time or funds to keep developing beos. They will probely just keep using it for there handhelds and just develope it for themselves from there on.

I did not use it but I had heard it was a great OS. I'd hate to see its support dropped.

I personally use BeOS for day-to-day operations on several of my workstations. The performance is superior to MS products, though support has been difficult at best for the past few months. I'm still awaitng a working hardware accelerated OpenGL ICD layer myself.

I'll add my name to the list shortly. The best solution for Be users would be if the base source code was released.

I think it would be a good reputation booster for Palm if they did release the source of BEos to GNU or some other open source project.

The only problem with open sourcing the code is that some of the real good features of the OS are under commercial license.
