Why does it seem that all nerds wear glasses?

Does staring at a monitor screen make your vision go bad? I'm 16, and I've been staring at monitor screens since I was 8, and my vision is still great, probably still 20/20. It seems like all nerds have glasses.:confused:

The newer model nerds don't cause they either have contact lense or a nice *** monitor. :):cool:

It's actually a space thing.
The desk is covered in books, mags, components litter the floor so as you finish each pint of beer just rack up the empty glasses on ya head. :cool:

Only becomes problematical once the stack reaches about two feet tall. :confused:

Constantly looking at monitors close up will give you bad vision eventually, but i inherited weak eyes... so slight bit of nerding and i need glasses :eek: :p

I had 20/20 up until I was about 25, and now I'm a glasses wearing, full-blown nerd, with glasses.

I've had glasses since 8th grade, I've only been into computers the last 5 years..THEREFORE your nerd bias comment doesn't hold..:D

Got my first pair of glasses when I was 41, arms got too short to read. Personally I don't need glasses except when I want to see something:D

No need to be "confused"..it all quite simple..The people who are weak eyed from birth tend to be book worms instead of atheletes..in this ability to study to gain acceptance in an area generally open to the athletes, they also gain a higher IQ.

I totally agree with cwins thoughts and his eyes being weak..he has already proved his nerd ability several times.. although I have no clue where his athletic ability lies..playing chess perhaps?

A nerdy person will beat an athlete to death with word fights.. thats another reason you rarely see a nerd associating with the game leaders... (except in a mutually accepted arena) :D

My dad cant work a toaster... but is athletic

Glasses wearer 1 (me): Nerdy - not athletic
Glasses wearer 2 (sis): Nerdy - athletic
Glasses wearer 3 (bro): Not nerdy - not athletic
Glasses wearer 4 (dad): Not nerdy - Athletic

My eyes are constantly deteiorating. I need a new pair of glasses 1 or 2 times every 2 years. (stronger pair).

I prefeer to be called a G33K, not a nerd. A nerd is a book smart person. I know many nerds who know **** about computers. I am a G33K, but am not very book smart.(Actually, this progress report wasn't so bad, lowest grade was only a 73)

I'm an athletic nerd and I don't wear glasses. :p

I used to spend 4-6 hours/day behind a crappo dappo 15" CRT in the 90's. Didn't affect me - of course I overran it at 90Hz. Still works today, but it doesn't want to do 90Hz :p

I just think some people are predestined to bad eyesight, and others aren't. No, monitors do not make you blind. Running them at 60Hz will.

Mine wont allow me to run it at anything other than 60mhz.. just another reason for me to get rid of my 10 yr old Sony!

Well, I don't wear glasses, and at 26, I still have 20/20.. but this monitor is on it's way out for sure.. I've been getting really dry eys when I start gaming for too long.. ..

Besides, I barely have 512 now, so I reaally don't have any to spare!!

im nerdy, quite athletic and will need glasses in the future, as poor sight is in the family.

generally i try to run my monitor at a lower resolution, so i can get a higher refresh rate - if i cant get 85hz at 1024x768, i switch down.

atm i have an amazing monitor - 100hz at 1024x768, only cost me £10!! original owner thought it was broken, so lucky me i get me a cool monitor :D
