Graphics Disappearing in Ms word97

I am working with large files tat contain a lot of print screens on which I added some text boxes . A few times the print screens were suddenly replaced by large red crosses.( I believe these are place holders) I checked the tools-> view menu, to make sure that view place holders was not checked. It wasn’t. I was never able to retrieve these screen prints. I think this happens after an auto save or auto recovery. Anyone knows what is the reason. thanks

In the past that has happened to me when the system got low on memory and didn't have enough to display the graphics. They would always come back after rebooting or closing some programs though (I tend to have several open). If they aren't coming back for you, your document may be too big for your PC to hold in memory. This hasn't happened to me for a while since I now have 768MB of RAM. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
