I like this (http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?description=13-130-420&DEPA=1) motherboard, but it seems MSI doesn't let us know what onboard risers for front USB, 1394, front sound etc.... what's with that?

Huh? All you need to know is on the downloadable PDF file (file one) on pages 2-24 thru 2-29.

You and me know this, but someone less informed looking throught the specs would have a hard time finding it. All the other MoBo manufacturers list the onboard headers for USB, 1394 Gameports etc. Just makes it easier when looking for a product.
For instance, I bought a 865 Neo2 board for my sister, but it had only one USB header on it, when I shopped online for my board, I wanted two headers.. had tough time finding what I wanted because I had to download all the manuals for the MSI boards.

Well, Newegg list all USB ports - internal and external. They are not perfect, but they're pretty accurate.

I sure see MSI mobos mentioned alot. Mine just died 3 weeks after the 1 year warranty ran out. It's going to make a cool but expensive Frisbee. I just realized I have a mobo controversy.
