I couldn't find any specs or decent pics online, so it's hard to know. If you're looking to do the np->pro mod, you should go for the Sapphire card if you can find one.

BTW, welcome to SysOpt! :t

I can't find a Sapphire 9800NP for a good price online.

I'm trying to keep in the price range of £200quid ish, the card I said was £206inc vat.

I'm from the UK as you may have noticed :)

any help would be appreciated

Ah, a fellow Brit :)

Sorry, I'm having trouble finding one at all. They sold out fast because of the ease of the whole modding thing. You could try sending BigJakkStaffa a PM - he's one of our mods, and could tell you where he got his card from:

Click Here (http://www.lowestonweb.com/Products/ProductList.asp?e=C09CAADF-98D5-4F42-B2A9-EFD030750327)

what do you think of this card fishybawb? the 9800NP located there for 206.

I think its a BBATI card as I bought one of those 9800SE AIW from there and it was BBATI.

Thanks :)

oh i also found a PowerColor 9800NP for £214, they usually come with 2.8ns don't they? I know the ones from Aria did.

Also just out of interest, atm i've got a good clocking 5900LX which I have just sold (hate the **** noise)

would a 9600XT be a big step down?

Also do u know newhere that sells a 9700PRO for cheap? As I don't mind one of those either.

I'm really quite desperate to find a good price, as I'm running out of money a bit rapid as of late - hehe.

Again, it's really hard to tell. The vast majority (if not all) of the successful mods have been done on cards with Samsung RAM. The BBA cards *generally* use Infineon RAM AFAIK, and aren't likely to "convert" without problems. You could try emailing them, but then there's only 1 card in stock - it could have gone before you find out. I wish I could help more :( On the up-side, the 9800np is still a very good card in it's own right.

the AIW 9800SE i bought from there came with 3.3ns samsung ram.

know anywhere else mate?

They sell a 9800NP still tho, but its a BBATI isn't it?

They do seel the Sapphire 9800 AIW, but for the money you pay, twenty quid will get you a fully fledged 'Pro' and AIW aint worth it unless your into all the vid editing hijinks. BTW the 'Generic ATI' category at Eclipse are Sapphire OEM packages, that coem without any bundled software etc, just the card, leads and driver disc

You can get the Sapphire 9800 np/non-SE here:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Sapphire_143.html

But it aint in stock at the moment

don't u advise getting them from eclipse then?

seeing as its an OEM package i don't require all the bundled software or ****.

would they be with 3.3ns samsung ram?

Like i said the only 9800np n-SE eclipse has is the 9800 AIW which, unless your into film editing and whatnot, isnt worth the money. In this case i woudl email OCUK, see how long it will be till theyre back in stock, and if the wait is bearable, go there

the 9800np n-SE? all I see is an ATi 9800. Sorry for my ignorance I'm just a little confused.

You're saying they're selling the 9800NP AIW? or the 9800SE AIW for £187quid?

Bigjakkstaffa

you DO NOT want the SE, its a crippled 9800 Non-Pro that has an extremely low chance of making it to 9800 'Pro' status through mods due to it only having 4 renderign pipelines as opposed to the 8 of the 9800 and 9800 Pro.

The card you want is the 9800 NON-PRO, NON-SE

what card does eclipse currently have in stock then? the 9800NP or ?

the running man

can get a 9800NP for £190, 3.3ns samsung ram, red pcb etc.

Shud I go for it?

Either that or theres this guy selling a modded 9800SE AIW which hes had clocked at 9800XT speeds and of course has the extra four pipelines open.

I dont trust classified style sales over the net, i woud go with the new thing.

And the only 9800 NP cards Eclipse stock are the 9800 NP AIW, which in my opinion does more than you need, something refelcted by the price tag. For this reason you should look at OCUK and other retailers

its only £187 tho mate.

@ OcUK they're £222.

Or are you talking about the gigabyte card? I think our wires are getting crossed matey :)

The only r9800 non-pro non-SE Eclipse sell is the following

Sapphire 128Mb 9800 All-in-Wonder AGP Graphics Card DVI TVO

£364.19

and its OEM version

ATI 128Mb Radeon 9800 All-in-Wonder AGP8x Graphics Card

£333.64

All the other 9800's they sell are either 9800Pro's or, as i have already stated the 9800SE which is a basically a somewhat performanced crippled 9800 .

The card from ocuk you want is

Sapphire ATI Radeon 9800 128MB DDR TV-Out/DVI - Retail

For £222.08

From here:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Sapphire_143.html

However as previously stated they are out of stock at the moment, as are most UK retailers and a long lead time is to be expected on the new stock due to the rarity of 9800 non-pro non-SE's now
