My motherboard gave out about six weeks ago. I'm pretty sure I fried a VRM from not using a good power supply (I know it's stupid, but I was waiting for my 350 watt Sparkle in the mail). Well, I RMA'ed it more than a month ago, and I still haven't gotten it back. I've e-mailed the RMA department of Z-buy, but have gotten no response. I've never had to RMA anything before, is this normal?

ship it without a tracking no. and a month can become forever.

warthog artucally when my WD hard drive died the company sent out a new one (providing you give them a credit card) the day i called. when you recieve the drive you have 30 days to return the bad one or they will charge your credit card. i got my rma hd in like 2 days.

I think it all depends on how long the company takes to process the RMAs. Shipping-wise, as long as you live in the U.S., to ship an old part back, and have a new one shipped to you, should never take more than a month, unless it got hideously lost in the mail. I would actually figure a coast-to-coast delivery to be about 5-6 days, depending on what shipping method.
It's all in the company. I recently had to send something back to newegg. I sent it priority mail. It got from me (Missouri) to them (California) in 3 business days. Newegg is sending me my parts back, for free, through FedEx. One part was shipped 3-day. The other one, since it didn't get out the day they recieved it, they upgraded to next-day. Can you believe that? They are sending me a replacement part, free shipping, next day air! Gotta love Newegg.com. Everyone should buy their computer parts from them.

Warthog,
I had to have my 60Gb IBM Hdd Replaced. it took about 4-5 weeks. good thing i had another hard drive. but now the one i got as a replacement is oging bad. so you might have to replace the drive about 2 months after you get it. they seem to fail in a 2 month period. they say a Low-Level format should do it. but for only 2 months.
i can only exchange my drives i cant get a refund http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif i will never buy an IBM storage Product again. its all WD from now one.
IBM SUX! (IMO)

Definitely go WD. I have returned a few. They have always gotten me the replacement in a matter of a couple or at most a few days. If you have a credit card, do the advanced replacement, as was mentioned earlier. Oh, and last time I got lazy, and returned my defective drive well after the 30 days they allow. Never heard a complaint, and they did not bill me.
definatly correct on the ibm drives...the power cord jack is known to have pins constantly pushed in,cheap materiel, prolly tin

THANKS SOCALGAL!! That is priceless info!
What IBM drives are we all talking about? I'm talking about the 75GXP. The 60GXP is supposed to have "fixed" any known issues.
It's gonna take a heck of a lot to tarnish IBMs status with me...

Umm... I filled out the online RMA form first, got the RMA #, THEN called (and emailed as backup) to switch to an Advance RMA (forgot to mention that detail... sorry.) Perhaps you can get a straight Advance? Dunno..
The drive I sent back was a 20G DTLA-3070, about 2.5 years old thereabouts.
I've RMA'd WD drives before too, and WD is much easier to deal with and faster on RMAs.
IBM gave me a hassle (not impressed with their customer support on this issue), but I did get the new drive in about a week.

Szech - I'm sorry, but I've never had to (thankfully and touch wood) RMA a mainboard, but I've heard that it takes some time. Have you tried calling the USA rep, preferrably a toll-free number and using the 'transfer-me' method to the correct dept., to get more info? Good luck!
Warthog - I just RMA'd a 2+ y/o IBM. They didn't want to Advance RMA me, but I insisted (they said Advance RMAs were for "hospitals, and important businesses")
I told them I run a home business and it was IMPORTANT TO ME! They said an Advance RMA wouldn't make it any faster. I said I still wanted it. (I wanted the drive to arrive before I sent mine out - also to make sure their packaging requirements were met so I could ship the dead one back in the same box their new one came in.)
They call it a 'cross-shipment'
My IBM email c&p
We do offer cross shipments. If you wish to set up a cross shipment, you

I think I'm just going to buy another motherboard then. If I ever get that RMA back, I'll just sell it or something.
