I am looking for a motherboard that will support 4 gig of PC3200 RAM, dual opterons, and a high quality video card. I want the board to support the dual channel RAM. I am basically building a machine to do large number crunching stuff, and be able to handle graphics. Is there a board that will take 8 or so 512 MB sticks of memory? I saw a Tyan mobo that I think would work but it said it was a server board. Can it also be used for a workstation? Any help/opinions would be appreciated.

Server boards oft times lack an AGP port, If the Tyan you saw has an AGP socket there shouldn't be a problem using it as a workstation! Check the amount of PCI ports also ...just to be certain!

Take a look around. There are a few that support all of your needs, but I'm not sure about dual-DDR. Frankly, you don't need that anyway.

I thought the whole concept of the Dual channel DDR is that it is 2X faster. Is it not that much faster than the standard RAM?

LOL, no. All Dual-DDR does is allow the CPU to access two banks of RAM independently rather than serially. Good for about 5-7% perfomance improvement - on RAM alone too.
